Last night in Calgary 13-year old Akina Shirt from Saddle Lake First Nation made history by singing O Canada in Plains Cree. This marks the first time that a National Hockey League game has been opened by the singing of the national anthem in an aboriginal language. Here's an article about her forthcoming performance.
