Atlantic seaboard readers: Don't forget you have to leave work early this afternoon to drive into central Philadelphia for the Free Library panel session with Liberman, McWhorter, McKean, and Yagoda. It starts at 7 p.m., and there'll be lines and crowd control and metal detectors and security checks, and they'll have to block the street because not only do they need to be able to park Liberman's stretch limousine outside the library safely, they also have to deal with the fact that apparently McWhorter is coming in from New York by helicopter and landing on the roof of a nearby building... You don't get a bill like this one every night, or every year, you know. This is a biggie. They were going to have Dick Cavett on the panel, but he decided he couldn't measure up to a panel this strong, so he backed out. Discretion the better part of valor and all that. Don't be late. You'll need to leave very soon if you're going to get a quick bite to eat before the show.
